Season and single-game tickets are on-sale NOW
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin head volleyball coach Debbie Humphreys announced the Ladyjacks' 2025 schedule on Thursday, July 10, in conjunction with the season and single game tickets going on sale. Highlighting the 28-match regular season slate is a pair of tournaments to be played on the newly-named Debbie Humphreys Court at Shelton Gym, six matchups against NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago and a 16-match Southland Conference schedule which puts SFA at home for three of its first four league matchups.
The Ladyjacks posted a 24-9 overall record in 2024 which included a 14-2 mark in SLC play, made an appearance in the semifinals of the conference tournament and earned an invite to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) for the third time since the tournament's rebirth in 2016.
GETTING STARTED
The Ladyjacks' first competition of the year takes place on August 23 as SFA plays host to UT Arlington, last season's Western Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champions, at 2 p.m. in an exhibition matchup. The contest with the Mavericks marks the first of nine non-conference tilts with Lone Star State opposition.
YEAR 38
The 12th winningest Division I program of the past five seasons (121-35; .776), SFA officially begins year 38 under its legendary longtime leader on August 29 at UTSA as part of the UTSA Invitational. The Ladyjacks will be in action the following day to battle Texas State; an NCAA Tournament team a season ago after winning the 2024 Sunbelt Conference Tournament title.
HOME SWEET HOME
SFA will host a pair of weekend tournaments this coming season beginning with its first from September 4-6. The Ladyjacks meet Louisiana (9/4), Abilene Christian (9/5) and Sam Houston (9/6). It will be the 69th meeting all-time between SHSU and SFA with the Ladyjacks leading the series 42-26.
Two weeks later, SFA returns home for a pair of marquee matchups with SMU and UTEP. The Ladyjacks host the Mustangs (9/18), who finished the 2024 season ranked 15th nationally in the final AVCA top 25, for the third time overall and for the first time since 2010 in a series led by SFA at 10-5. SFA meets UTEP for the eighth time overall and for the first time since 2020. The Miners took Oklahoma to five sets in last season's NCAA Tournament opening round and finished the season with 27 wins.
WINDY CITY RUNDOWN
In between home non-conference stints, the Ladyjacks will play three matches in Chicago as part of the Loyola Invitational. SFA matches up against the host Ramblers (9/11), battles Bowling Green (9/12) and closes out the weekend with the B1G's Indiana (9/13). Loyola Chicago upset BYU in three sets in last year's opening round of the NCAA Tournament, Bowling Green advanced to the championship match of the NIVC Tournament and Indiana won eight league matches last fall.
SUMMITING THE SOUTHLAND
SFA aims to get back to the top of the Southland Conference and the Ladyjacks' league schedule starts on the road at defending tournament champion Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (9/24). Three days later, the Ladyjacks welcome in UTRGV (9/27) for their home conference opener. The Vaqueros appeared in last season's NIVC. Following the matchup with UTRGV, the Ladyjacks will enjoy two more home matches with action against New Orleans (10/2) and defending regular season champion Southeastern Louisiana (10/4). The Lions boast a 33-1 SLC record over the past two seasons.
The Ladyjacks return to Shelton in mid-October for contests with Houston Christian (10/16) and Incarnate Word (10/18) and close out the month and welcome in November at home against Nicholls (10/30) and McNeese State (11/1), before closing the regular season with Lamar (11/15). Over the past five seasons, the Ladyjacks boast the best SLC home winning percentage coming out on top in over 92% of their battles against league foes inside The Pressure Cooker.
