Battle of the Piney Woods Exhibition Scheduled for October 25 in Houston

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State are set to clash on the hardwood this coming fall as a Battle of the Piney Woods exhibition is set for Saturday, October 25 in Houston. The two longtime foes will meet inside Delmar Stadium, a 5,000-seat multipurpose arena within the Houston Independent School District, at 6 p.m.
Tickets for the matchup can be purchased here. No physical tickets will be offered for the game. All digital purchases are non-refundable.
The contest marks one of the first scheduled competitions under first-year head coach Matt Braeuer. While the late October matchup won't officially count, the two sides have played in many that have. SFA leads the all-time series against the Bearkats 108-91 in a series that was first contested in 1925. The two programs last met on the hardwood during the 2022-23 campaign.
