SFA Women's Soccer Unveil 2025 Schedule

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Women's Soccer team announced the 2025 schedule Monday afternoon, June 30.
The 2024 Southland Conference Champions will look to defend their title after capping off their previous season with a 14-4-2 record, and enter the new season with first-year head coach Ashley Whittemore. SFA will begin with an exhibition match at Louisiana on August 5 before returning home to host the annual Purple vs White scrimmage on August 9.
The 'Jacks at Home
SFA is ready to set the stage early in front of the home faithful with no rivalry better than the Battle of the Piney Woods. Sam Houston will enter Nacogdoches, Texas, on August 14 for the 27th matchup in this historic rivalry. In 2024, SFA drew even at SHSU, finishing with a score of 1-1. The Lumberjacks are undefeated in their previous 12 home matchups against the Bearkats, and will look for their 17th all-time victory. SFA wraps up home non-conference play on September 14 against Prairie View A&M for Senior Day. The teams last met in 2022 when SFA brought home a 3-0 victory.
Power 4 Matchups
Stephen F. Austin will host a pair of Power 4 matchups in Nacogdoches this season, beginning on September 4 with Texas A&M, as the Aggies make their first-ever appearance in the Piney Woods. The 'Jacks have a chance to break into the win column against the Aggies in the series, as the last match resulted in a 1-0 loss dating back to 2012. The Houston Cougars will then take the pitch at SFA on September 7, bringing back a rematch of last season's 0-0 draw at Houston. The Lumberjacks look to defend their home territory by leveling off their 2-3 home record against Houston.
On the Road
SFA will hit the road five times for non-conference matchups beginning at Tulsa on August 17. SFA sits with a 2-3-1 record against the Golden Hurricanes, with their most recent match resulting in a 1-0 victory for SFA during the 2023 season. The 'Jacks will then travel to Arkansas State on August 21 for the first meeting between the two in 17 years, when SFA defeated the Red Wolves in a 3-1 match. SFA is currently a perfect 3-0 against Arkansas State, and will march into Jonesboro, Arkansas, for the first time since 2005 when they grabbed a 2-1 victory over the Red Wolves.
SFA will return to Texas, playing at Texas State on August 28. The Lumberjacks are seeking their 5th straight road win against Texas State, as the last road matchup for the Lumberjacks resulted in a 2-1 victory in 2020. The sides clash after each made an appearance in their conference championship game in the 2024 season. With the 'Jacks set for their 29th matchup, they have already tallied 57 goals in 28 games against Texas State with 30 of those scored during road games. UTEP will host the 'Jacks on August 31 to conclude their four-game road stretch. SFA can draw even with the Miners in the series which currently sits at a record of 4-5. Their last road win resulted in a 2-1 victory in overtime in 2013. SFA Soccer will then journey over to Ruston, Louisiana, to tangle with LA Tech for the 8th time. The Lumberjacks are currently 3-3-1, with the only draw coming in their last road match in 2018, where both teams were held at 1-1.
Southland Conference
The Lumberjacks look to put on five Southland Conference games for the purple and white faithful. To open SLC play, SFA will first host McNeese on September 18. The Lumberjacks are 29-7, while recording only two losses in 16 home games when hosting McNeese. Wrapping up the month of September,UTRGV will travel to SFA on the 28th. The 'Jacks are looking to hold off the Vaqueros as SFA is yet to chalk up a losing game across six games played between the two after the 2024 3-1 victory in the Southland Tournament.
East Texas A&M will visit Nacogdoches for the third time in the series and for the fifth matchup between the two sides on October 9. With each claiming one win on the home site of SFA, East Texas A&M sits just one game above in the series after the 'Jacks posted a 2-0 win to claim the 2024 Southland Conference Tournament title. SFA is set for an October 19 match against Houston Christian. Overall, SFA has captured 11 wins in 15 total games against the Huskies, with their recent 2-0 win in their eighth conference meeting during the 2024 campaign. The last SLC home game for SFA is scheduled for October 26, when they take on Nicholls in the regular season finale. It will be the Colonels' first trip to Nacogdoches since 2019. SFA is 28-5 against Nicholls all-time with a 14-1 home record.
SFA will travel a total of 1,911 miles for their five Southland Conference road matchups. A rematch of the 2024 regular season title match between SFA and Northwestern State is slated for September 21 in Natchitoches, La. The Lumberjacks are 11-3 on the road against the Lady Demons. Last time the 'Jacks met with NSU, SFA grabbed a 1-0 overtime victory to punch their ticket to the 2024 Southland Conference Championship in Corpus Christi, Texas. Shortly after, on September 25, the Lumberjacks will travel to Hammond, Louisiana, for their 44th matchup against Southeastern Louisiana. Six of SFA's 21 wins against the Lady Lions have come on the road.
On October 5, SFA will make a quick trip to Lamar. In the last 10 matchups, the Lumberjacks are 6-4, but SFA has a commanding 16-5 record in the series. Just a week later, Whittemore and company face off at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Last fall, the 'Jacks put up seven goals to win for the sixth time against TAMU-CC. Incarnate Word hosts Stephen. F Austin in the Jacks' last road game of the regular season on October 23. SFA is 7-3, including a 3-1-1 road record, when battling at UIW.
The 2025 Southland Conference Tournament will take place in Beaumont, Texas, from November 4-9.
