
Ben Morrison Named Soccer Assistant Coach

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin Head Soccer Coach, Ashley Whittemore announced the hiring of Ben Morrison as an Assistant Coach, Tuesday afternoon.
Morrison joins the Lumberjacks after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at St. Mary's University. During his time with the Rattlers, he coached an All-American, two All-Region players, and competed in the NCAA Tournament.
"Thank you to Michael McBroom and Ashley Whittemore for this opportunity to build onto the success of the Lumberjack soccer program," said Morrison. "SFA Athletics has a championship environment, and I am looking forward to being a part of it. I'm excited to join the Nacogdoches community which has already been so welcoming! Axe 'Em 'Jacks!"
"I'm thrilled to welcome Ben Morrison to our coaching staff," said Head Coach Ashley Whittemore. "He brings a tremendous work ethic to everything he does. He has a sharp eye for recruiting talent and has a deep understanding of the game."
Prior to St. Mary's, Ben served as an assistant at Texas Lutheran University for one season. During that season, the Bulldogs finished in the top 3 in the conference and competed in the conference tournament semifinal.
In addition to college coaching, Ben has worked for U.S. Soccer as a Coach Educator for Grassroots courses since 2022. He has also coached for South Texas ODP for 3 seasons, high school for 5 seasons, and club for 4 seasons. In his time coaching high school, he was awarded the TASCO Region IV Girls Coach of the Year in 2023, and three district Coach of the Year awards between 2020 and 2023.
Ben earned his master's degree in Sports Administration from Concordia University in 2021, and his bachelor's degree in Spanish from Baylor in 2016. He also has his USSF B License and United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma.
