
'Jacks Topple ULM in 96-76 Sunday Matchup

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's basketball team defeated the Warhawks of ULM in a final of 96-76 on Sunday, December 7. The Lumberjacks move to 7-2 on the season with this victory, now looking forward to SLC foe Texas A&M-Corpus Christ on Wednesday, December 17 at 8:00 p.m. inside The Sawmill.
In the first half, the 'Jacks kept a steady offensive tempo, shooting 54.3%, as Keon Thompson led in scoring for SFA with nine points. Jereald Colonel controlled the paint with five first-half rebounds, with four of them on defense. The 'Jacks were quickly able to open up to a 15-8 lead, starting with a three-pointer from Kam Burton, where the Lumberjacks then took off with the lead, not surrendering a second lead time to ULM for the remaining 39:36. With halftime hitting, SFA maintained a 10-point margin, 49-39 over the Warhawks.
In the second half, SFA did not let up on the pedal, hitting the 60-point mark just seven minutes into the second half. Narit Chotikavanic and Ahamed Mohammed easily maneuvered around the ULM defense, both hitting threes in back-to-back possessions. Keon Thompson closed out the night leading in points with 25, Narit Chotikavanic went 5-8 in the three-point department, and Jerald Colonel added three more blocks to his career this evening. SFA was able to close the game out, holding ULM to four points in the last two minutes to end in a 96-76 victory for the Lumberjacks.
