
Thompson Garners Second SLC Player of the Week Honor

Senior guard averages 17-6-5.5 in pair of home wins including league opener vs. UTRGV
FRISCO, Texas - For the second time this season, Stephen F. Austin senior guard Keon Thompson has been named the Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The honor came after the Merrillville, Indiana, native averaged 17 points, six rebounds and 5.5 assists per game in two Sawmill victories this past week.
Thompson averaged 27 minutes per game and shot 55% from the floor making 11 of his 20 attempts, while knocking in 11-of-14 shots from the stripe. He totaled a dozen rebounds, 11 assists and two steals as the Lumberjacks defeated both UTRGV (73-60) in the SLC opener and ULM (96-76) on Sunday. Thompson took just six shots against the Vaqueros but made five of six from the line in addition to handing out six assists to go with a seven-rebound effort. Against the Warhawks, Thompson delivered his fifth 20+ point game this season with 25 points on 64% from the field in addition to snatching five rebounds, delivering five assists and collecting a pair of steals.
Thompson received the season's first weekly honor on November 10 after averaging 23.0 points including 26 in a home win over Arkansas State. He shot 57.6% (19-of-33) from the floor and .333 (3-of-9) from three-point range. Thompson averaged 5.0 boards, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steal
