
Ladyjacks Defend the Sawmill with a Four-Point Win Over Houston

Led by a double-double from Harmanie Dominguez, the ‘Jacks remain a perfect 4-0.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball program wrapped up their four-game homestand against the University of Houston Cougars.
Both teams traded blows as neither team held more than a three-point lead until a three-pointer from Lydia Cajuste and two made free throws from Myka Perry made it 15-11. Houston made a layup to take a slim 21-20 lead after the first quarter.
SFA started off the second quarter on a 5-0 spurt to take a 25-21 lead with 8:34 left in the half. Three minutes later, the 'Jacks went on a 6-2 spurt to extend their lead to 34-29. Four straight free throws from the Cougars cut the deficit down to one, 36-35. A buzzer-beater tip in layup from Cajuste secured a 43-40 lead for the Ladyjacks going into halftime.
The third quarter remained competitive as neither team held more than a four-point lead until Houston scored four-straight points to take a six-point lead, 60-54. SFA responded with a 7-0 spurt to retake a 61-60 lead with 1:20 left in the third. The 'Jacks headed into the fourth with a 63-62 lead.
The 'Jacks came out on fire in the fourth as they went on a scorching 10-0 run in the first three minutes of the quarter, 73-62. Houston responded with an 8-0 run to cut the lead down to three, 73-70. With three minutes left the game was tied at 75. SFA ended the game on a 7-3 spurt to take an 82-78 victory inside the Sawmill.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA extends their all-time series lead to 22-5 and wins their second game in a row against the Cougars. The 'Jacks remain a perfect 12-0 at home.
• Harmanie Dominguez records her first double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
• Myka Perry dropped her second 20-point performance of the season.
• Lydia Cajuste and Anika Hyland led the team with five assists each.
• Cha Gardner dropped 13 points while snagging six rebounds.

The Ladyjacks will head over to Ruston for a Sunday matchup against the Lady Techsters on November 23 at 2:00 p.m. The last time the 'Jacks played Louisiana Tech was last year where they came out with a 70-56 victory in the Sawmill.
