
Faith Blackstone and Trinity Moore Drop Double-Doubles as Ladyjacks Sail Past Privateers

NEW ORLEANS, La.- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball team (17-5, 7-4 SLC) traveled to New Orleans for a matchup with the Privateers (2-17, 2-8 SLC).
SFA's offense picked up right where they left off Monday night as they jumped out to a 18-2 lead with 3:27 left in the first quarter. New Orleans tried to keep pace with SFA as they responded with a 7-5 run which made the score 23-9 in favor of the Ladyjacks with 1:26 left in the opening quarter. Later, UNO went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 10, but SFA's Avery VanSickle put a stop to that with a buzzer beater three to end the first quarter with the 'Jacks up 28-15.
Points were a more difficult to come by in the second quarter as neither team went on a longer than a five-point run the entire quarter. Both teams kept pace with each other as the defenses were settling in. New Orleans made a last second layup to keep the deficit at 10. SFA headed into the locker room with a 42-32 halftime lead.
The 'Jacks started out the third quarter with a three-point play from Ashlyn Traylor-Walker that was answered by a three from the Privateers, 45-35. Both teams continued to trade blows until SFA went on a dominant 14-2 run thanks to threes from Key Roseby, Harmanie Dominguez, and Cha Gardner, 65-45. UNO ended the third quarter with a three-point play, but the Ladyjacks headed into the fourth with a commanding 65-48 lead.
SFA started the fourth with a 6-3 spurt to extend their lead to 20, 71-51. Both teams traded free throws for most of the quarter which included a four-point play from UNO to cut the deficit to 18, 78-60 with 2:28 left in the game. SFA was able to maintain a significant lead and finished out the game with a free throw from Traylor-Walker which sealed a 83-65 win.
