NEW ORLEANS, La.- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack women's basketball team (16-5, 6-4) hit the road for a midweek matchup against the hosting New Orleans University Privateers (2-16, 2-7) to close out their January schedule for the season.
Ladyjacks at a Glance:
The Ladyjacks continue to be an unstoppable force at home as they are coming off a pair of critical home conference wins over Northwestern State and East Texas A&M, to both improve their home record to a near flawless 8-1 while moving their conference record to 6-4 on the year. The offensive juggernaut the Ladyjacks have become this season is put on display every game as they lead the Southland Conference in points per game (80.5), field goal percentage as a team (47.6), as well as three-point percentage as a team (38.3). The Ladyjacks will now look to carry over their momentum from their impressive offensive display against East Texas A&M where they posted 92 points and had six different Ladyjacks finish in double figures on the road to New Orleans looking to improve on their 5-4 away record this season.
Privateers at a Glance:
The New Orleans University Privateers will close out their three-game homestand against the Ladyjacks looking to get back in the win column following a nail-biting 58-55 defenive battle loss against the Incarnate Word Cardinals their last time out. Before their loss to the Cardinals, the Privateers had strung together a pair of hard-fought victories as they defeated the East Texas A&M Lions 66-62 on the road, before opening their three-game homestand against the Houston Christian Huskies with a 62-55 win. The Privateers non-conference schedule was no easy task as they faced off against no. 24 ranked Alabama, TCU, Texas Tech, as well as Baylor, and will be looking to post their second home win of the season against SFA.

A bevy of Ladyjacks got into the scoring action against the Lions their last time out as six different 'Jacks finished with double-digit points. Harmanie Dominguez spearheaded the scoring effort with her 17 points as she knocked down five triples on the night, while Avery VanSickle and Key Roseby formed a dynamic scoring duo of their own as each posted 15 points. Ashlyn Traylor-Walker stuffed the statsheet against the Lions as she recorded 13 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, while Faith Blackstone and Trinity Moore continues to be the definition of consistency for the Ladyjacks as both have posted double-digit points in four games straight.

Nora Francois and Jayla Kimbrough have led the way for the Privateers offense this season as Francois leads the squad with 13.5 points/game, while Kimbrough has totaled a team-leading 224 total points this year. Alexis Calderon has been a highly productive player on both ends of the court for New Orleans as she has been a kickstarter for the Privateers offense with 76 assists, while simultaneously leading the defensive effort with 43 steals.

The Lamar University Cardinals will look to keep the good times rolling as they have posted a perfect 9-0 conference record this season, however, will be in for a stiff test their next time out as they clash in a battle of heavyweights against Southland leading Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday night in Hammond, Louisiana looking to keep their conference record perfect and hand Southeastern Louisiana their first conference loss of the season. The matchup between SFA and Lamar will feature plenty of offensive fireworks as it will pit the no. 1 ranked scoring offense in the Southland in SFA against the no. 2 scoring offense in the Southland in Lamar. The Cardinals will close out their short two-game road trip on Saturday evening in Nacogdoches looking to improve their 3-3 away record.

Sabria Dean and Akasha Davis have formed a solid scoring pair for the Cardinals this season as both average over 13 points/game. Dean has done a little bit of everything on both ends of the court for Lamar as she has scored a team-high 250 points, dished out 46 assists, and totaled 32 steals, while Davis comfortably leads the team in rebounds with 147 to go along with her 242 points scored, and team-leading 11 blocks. Jacei Denley rounds out the Cardinals offense as she averages 11 points/game while leading the Cardinals in steals with 35 this season.
