
Kyanna Creecy, Katherine Holtman, and Izabella Ortiz Named to Academic All-Conference First Team

FRISCO, Texas- The Southland Conference announced the 2024 Volleyball Academic All-Conference teams Thursday morning.
Katherine Holtman made an instant impact on the Ladyjacks this season as she started in every match for the 'Jacks. She leads the team with 268 kills and is third with 73 blocks, and she averages 2.91 kills per set and .79 blocks per set this season. Holtman set her career high in kills with 20 against Incarnate Word and Southeastern Louisiana. She has recorded 13 matches with at least 10 kills and hit at least over .500 in four of those matches. Holtman also set her career high in blocks with five against UIW and has recorded at least three blocks in all but 10 matches this season. Holtman was named Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on All-SLC First Team.
Izabella Ortiz has been a leader for the 'Jacks all year and ranks second on the team with 130 kills during conference play and hitting an incredible .476. She leads the conference in attack percentage and is fifth in blocks per set. Ortiz set a new career high with 20 kills in the match against Incarnate Word. She recorded double-digit kills in 10 conference matches this season before suffering a season-ending injury. Ortiz entered the SFA record book twice with two conference matches where she recorded an .800 and an .818 attack percentage putting her sixth and tied for ninth in the record book. She is also a menace at the net with 84 blocks including eight matches with five or more blocks. Overall, Ortiz averaged 2.71 kills per set, 0.97 blocks per set, and 3.43 points per set. Ortiz also earned a spot on All-SLC First Team.
Kyanna Creecy built off of her amazing freshman season with a fantastic sophomore season. She recorded 113 kills and hit .385 in conference play with three of those matches having double-digit kills. Creecy entered the SFA history books as the only person to record a perfect attack percentage with at least 10 attacks as she went 11 for 11 against New Orleans on October 17th. She ranked third in the conference in attack percentage, second in total blocks, and in blocks per set. Creecy recorded 73 blocks in conference play including tying her career high against UIW with nine blocks. She recorded three or more blocks in all but two conference matches this season. Overall, Creecy averages 1.98 kills per set, 1.28 blocks per set, and 2.76 points per set. Creecy earned a spot on All-SLC First Team.
