THIBODAUX, La.- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks men's basketball team (8-9, 1-5) open up a short two-game conference road trip as they travel to Thibodaux, Louisiana to duel the Nicholls University Colonels (10-7, 4-2).
Lumberjacks at a Glance:
The Lumberjacks will be looking to bounce back from a hard-fought physical loss against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions their last time out at the Sawmill. Despite the loss, the Lumberjacks continue to boast the best defense in the Southland as they are holding opponents to just 63.5 points per game, thanks to a pesky defense that is holding shooters to a 39.1 shooting percentage from the field and a 28.5 percent three-point percentage, both of which rank SFA at the top of the Southland defensively. The 'Jacks will be back on the road following the short mid-week home matchup against the Lions as they look to claim their second conference win of the season and fourth road win of the year.
Colonels at a Glance:

The Colonels have posted a 4-2 conference record this year, while their non-conference schedule pitted them against the likes of schools such as 17th ranked Cincinnati, Gonzaga, and New Mexico. The Colonels now return home where they have played well at as they have posted a 5-2 home record this year.

Keon Thompson and Matt Hayman continue to form a dynamic consistent scoring duo for the Lumberjacks as Thompson has scored double-digit points in three of his last four games leading the team in points scored in those three games, while Hayman has scored double-digit points in back-to-back outings. Hayman has been a kick starter for the Lumberjack offense with his team-leading 41 assists, while Nana Antwi-Boasiako continues to be a rebounding machine with his team-high 110 rebounds. Defensively, Matt Hayman and Chrishawn Christmas continue to shine as both average over 1.8 steals per game for the Lumberjacks, which rank them second and third in the Southland respectively.
Scouting Report-Colonels
Robert Brown III will carry no shortage of confidence and momentum into Saturday's game for the Colonels as he is on the heels of a career-best 37-point effort against the Incarnate Word Cardinals his last time out.
