
Ella Morgan Named 2024 Soccer Student Athlete of the Year; Seven Named to Academic All-Conference First Team and Two Named to Second Team

FRISCO, Texas- The Southland Conference announced the 2024 Women's Soccer Academic All-Conference teams Tuesday morning.
Ella Morgan added to her list of accolades as she was named the Southland Women's Soccer Student Athlete of the Year and earning a spot on the All-Academic First Team. Morgan was also named Defender of the Year and earned a spot on First Team All-Southland. She was the workhorse for the SFA defense this year as she started in 15 of the 'Jacks 16 games and played 1388 minutes en route to securing the 12th Southland Regular Season Championship in program history. Morgan was also involved on the offensive end as she scored a goal against Sam Houston and recorded 14 shots this season. As team captain, she led the defensive line to 10 shutout victories and only allowed eight goals this season. Morgan was also named defensive player of the week twice this season.
Joining Ella on All-Academic First Team are tournament MVP, Jayme Bailey, Maddie Bowers, Ava Shannon, Brielle Buchanan, Avery Brandt, and Hadley Williams.
The Lumberjacks also earned two spots on the All-Academic Second Team with Cassidy Hoang and Sierra McCluer.
Hoang started in all 12 games she appeared in this season and played 835 minutes. She recorded one assist and 20 shots this season before suffering a season ending injury.
McCluer started in goal for 12 of the 14 games she appeared in this season and totaled 1150 minutes for the 'Jacks. She allowed four goals and recorded 36 saves this season for 0.31 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. McCluer finished the season with a 10-2 record and recorded five shutouts.
