
Lumberjacks Receiving Votes in AFCA FCS Coaches Poll

Waco, Tx- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks received nine votes in the 2024 AFCA FCS Coaches Poll. The Lumberjacks defeated the University of Northern Colorado Bears 48-7 this past Saturday night at Homer Bryce Stadium. The nine total votes marked the third time SFA has received votes in the AFCA Coaches Poll.
SFA joins Southland Conference opponents UIW (18th), Lamar (25th), McNeese (RV) and Nicholls (RV) in the polls.
The Lumberjacks are back in the polls after starting the year receiving votes for the first two weeks of the season but falling out last week after their loss to McNeese.
The SFA defense was stout again in the win over Northern Colorado allowing just 242 total yards, 18 of which came through the air and 224 rushing yards. The Lumberjacks offense put together another good game totaling 509 total yards with 250 passing yards and 259 on the ground.
Quarterback Sam Vidlak was the star of the show for the offense yet again as he threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns in three quarters of action. This was Vidlak's second straight game with three touchdowns and his third of the season as he accounted for five in the season opener against North American.
Jaylen Jenkins was the leading rusher for the 'Jacks going for 82 yards with a career-high 72-yard touchdown. Jenkins 72-yard touchdown was the longest rush of the season thus far for the 'Jacks and is the 12th longest rush in SFA history.
