Women’s Cross-Country Wraps up Rice Invitational

Houston, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Women's cross-country team wrapped up the Rice Invitational placing fourth out of 10 teams.
Freshman Valentine Jemutai was the top finisher for the Ladyjacks, finishing fourth overall with a time of 14 minutes.
"Valentine pressed from the beginning of the race, and she was amongst a field of NCAA class athletes," said head coach Rob Hansen. "So, what she was able to do last night was very impressive. She was 4th against a group of really impressive athletes."
Freshman Landry Perkin finished in 17th with a time of 15:15. Freshman Graycee Wilson finished 28th overall with a time of 16:00. Freshman Elina Bailey finished 38th overall with a time of 16:29. Freshman Alexandria Navarro rounded out the field for the Ladyjacks finishing in 54th with a time of 17:49.
"The ladies are still learning each week," said head coach Rob Hansen. "Running three weeks in a row is a daunting task. I know we've gained valuable experience, and I can say with complete confidence that we've gotten better each step along the way."
