Lumberjacks Return 3-0 From Trip to Italy

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks men's basketball team concluded their 10-day trip to Italy and returned home with a perfect 3-0 record against Italian teams.
After winning their first game 67-55 against Stella Azzurra in Florence, Italy, the Lumberjacks traveled to Rome, Italy to play their final two games against Kuntic Academy.
The Lumberjacks won their second consecutive game on the Italy trip, defeating Kuntic Academy.98-70 in their first match-up. Keith Lamar led the way for the Lumberjacks with 17 points, eight rebounds and was 6-for-10 (.600) from the field. Junior guard Keon Thompson was second on the team in scoring with 13 points going 5-for-7 (.714) from the field and totaled three rebounds to. Returning senior guard Matt Hayman followed closely in the points column with 10 points and a 4-for-6 shooting night from the field. He was 2-for-3 from behind the and pulled down six rebounds for the 'Jacks.
The Lumberjacks concluded their three game Italy schedule with a 91-79 win over Kuntic Academy. Newcomer Keon Thompson led the way for the Lumberjacks in the final game with 22 points, going 8-for-14 (.571) from the field. The junior guard also added four rebounds and two steals. Junior guard/forward Chrishawn Christmas wasn't to far behind, scoring 20 points on an 8-for-10 shooting night from the field. Christmas also added seven rebounds and three steals. Thierno Sylla, a junior forward, led the way on the boards with six rebounds and added 11 points.
The team was able to travel all around Italy and the surrounding areas to see some of the most historical places in the country. The Lumberjacks men's basketball team thanks all the generous donors that made the trip possible.
