
Track and Field Travel to WAC Outdoor Championships

OREM, Utah- The Stephen F. Austin track and field team will look to etch their name at the top of the Western Athletic Conference with the WAC Outdoor Championships getting underway this week.The 2024 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted by Utah Valley and will be held at the Hal Wing Track & Field Stadium in Orem, Utah from Thursday, May 9 through Saturday, May 11. The meet will get started with the men's decathlon at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning.
Head Coach Rob Hansen has been preparing his squad for these championships all season long. Each meet has been used as a stepping stone in preparation for the WAC Championships. "This is the opportunity we've been training for. We're as healthy as we can be at this point in the season but we've got good energy and are positive and ready to compete."
The Lumberjacks are coming off of a competitive week at the Texas Relays. The meet was hosted by the University of Texas and included a field that featured a very high level of talent. The Lumberjacks finished with four top three finishes. Stephen F. Austin will look to carry their momentum into this week's championship meet.

- Gideon Mengich (3000 SC, 5K)
- Emmanuel Ekuma (Throws)
- Cole Szegda & Keaton Parker (Javelin)
- Christiana Mudd (Heptathlon & Hurdles)

- Amani Graham (100m)
