
Lumberjacks Fall to Wildcats in Game Two

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks fell to the Abilene Christian Wildcats 4-12 in the second of a three-game series today.
The Wildcats got the scoring started in the top of the first inning scoring two runs and taking the lead, 2-0. SFA responded in the bottom of the second inning after a Nolan Brown single drove in Tom Biggs to cut into the Wildcats lead, 2-1. ACU scored on run in the top of the third inning to extend their lead and were able to hold SFA scoreless in the bottom of the third. After three complete innings the Wildcats led 3-1.
The Lumberjacks were able to cut into the Wildcats lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Nolan Brown grounded out to third base scoring Tom Biggs from third and notched his second RBI of the day, 3-2. The Lumberjacks were able to score two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead over the Wildcats. Cal Martin notched his first RBI of the day after his single up the middle-scored Cole Hill from third base. Tom Biggs then hit into a fielder's choice scoring Brock Knoerr from third, giving SFA the lead 4-3.
ACU responded in the top of the sixth inning scoring five runs, 8-3. The Wildcats extended their lead in the top of the eighth scoring one run and again in the top of the ninth scoring 3 runs. ACU was able to hold SFA scoreless after the fifth inning and won the game.
Blaine Plamer (2-0) took the win on the mound for the Wildcats and Jack James (0-3) took the loss for the Lumberjacks. Ronaldo De La Cruz also picked up his first save of the year for the Wildcats.
The two teams will be back in action Sunday April 7th for the final game of the series in a Sunday rubber match. First pitch is set for 12:00 P.M. CST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. You can also keep up with all the action on social media or with live stats through the SFA Athletics website.
