
Lumberjacks Topple Wildcats in Walk-Off Thriller

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks defeated the Abilene Christian Wildcats in a walk-off thriller to take the first game of the three-game series.
ACU was able to get the scoring started in the top of the third inning scoring one run on a bases loaded walk, 1-0. Both teams were deadlocked throughout the remainder of the game in a pitching duel until the bottom of the ninth inning.
With one out in the bottom of the ninth Tom Biggs was able to work a one out walk. After a wild pitch Biggs was then able to move to second with one out and Peyton Parker at the plate. Parker collected his third hit of the night, singling through the left side and advancing Biggs to third. Brock Knoerr came to the plate with runners on first and third and one out. Knoerr laid a bunt down to the first baseman scoring Tom Biggs from third to tie the game at 1-1. Peyton Parker was able to advance to third base on the bunt thanks to a throwing error from the first baseman. Nolan Brown was then intentionally walked to load the bases with one out. Hunter Prescher pinch hit for Sam Adams and after a battle at the plate Prescher was able to single through the right-side scoring Parker and winnig the game for the Lumberjacks by a final score of 2-1.
Skyler Jaco (1-3) took the win on the mound for the Lumberjacks and Cade McGarrh (2-3) took the loss for the Wildcats.
The Lumberjacks will be back in action Saturday April 6th for game two of the series. First pitch is set for 2:00 P.M. The game will be broadcast on WAC International. You can follow all the action on social media or with live stats through the SFA Athletics website.
