NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's basketball program has announced the addition of Chris Johnson. Johnson, a six-foot-five guard from the University of Texas, will make his Lumberjack debut in the 2024-25 season.
Johnson signed with the Lumberjacks after spending last season at the University of Texas. Johnson is known as a great scorer with deep range and an effective passer. He appeared in 17 games during his freshman campaign for the Longhorns. He helped lead the Longhorns to a 21-13 record and an 11-7 record in the Big 12. He shot 42% from the floor this season.
"We are very thrilled to announce that Chris has joined the Lumberjack family," said Kyle Keller, Lumberjacks head coach. "His versatility from the backcourt positions will immediately improve our entire team. He has the tools to make himself and his teammates better. Chris has an aggressive mindset on both ends of the court that truly fits our style of play both defensively and offensively."
Before his time at Texas, Johnson played his final year of high school at Montverde Academy in Montverde, FL. He was listed as the 44th best recruit in the country by ESPN in the final Class of 2023 rankings.
