Lumberjacks Fall to Texans

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks fell to the Tarleton Texans in the second game of the series today.
The Texans got the scoring started again today in the first inning plating two runs to take the lead 2-0. Tarleton then extended their lead in the second inning scoring four runs, 6-0. The Lumberjacks were able to cut into the Texans lead in the bottom of the second inning thanks to a Cole Hill double to left field scoring Sam Adams, 6-1.
Tarleton responded in the top of the third inning with four runs to lead 10-1. The Texans then plated another two runs in the top of the fourth inning to and after four complete innings Tarleton held the lead 12-1. In the bottom of the sixth inning, SFA cut into the Texans lead scoring two-runs, 12-3. The Texans then pushed one more run across in the top of the eighth inning and were able to hold the Lumberjacks scoreless in the bottom of the inning to enact the 10-run rule and win the Friday matchup.
Matt Haley (2-4) took the win on the mound for the Texans and Jack James (0-3) took the loss for the Lumberjacks.
The Lumberjacks will be back in action tomorrow March 30th, for the final game of the series. First pitch is set for 12:00 pm CST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. You can follow all the action on social media or with live stats on the SFA Athletics website.
