
Ladyjacks Break Record for Most Three-Point Field Goals Made in a Single Game on Opening Night

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team (1-0, 0-0 SLC) opened the 2024-25 season at home against Texas Southern (0-1,0-0 SWAC).
The first quarter started off with a bang as Trinity Moore hit to first three-pointer of the game, 3-0. Texas Southern made two layups to take a slim 4-3 lead early in the first quarter. SFA then went on an 11-0 run which included another three from Moore as well as Avery VanSickle and Faith Blackstone getting in on the action from beyond the arc. Both teams traded baskets for the rest of the quarter until Key Roseby scored the final five points of the quarter to put the 'Jacks up 28-10. In the first quarter the Ladyjacks were lights out from beyond the arc making eight three-pointers.
TSU scored the first points of the second quarter, but SFA went on a 9-0 run to extend their lead to 37-11. The Tigers would not go down without a fight as they went on a 7-0 spurt to cut the lead down slightly, 37-18. Both teams traded blows until the 'Jacks scored the last six points to take a 50-22 lead as they headed to the locker room.
Blackstone scored first in the third quarter to extend the SFA lead, 52-22. The Tigers made a free throw before VanSickle hit another three, 55-23. TSU went on a nine-point run before VanSickle stopped their momentum with a three, 60-32. The 'Jacks ended the third on an 11-2 run which included two three-pointers from Preseason Second Team All-SLC selection, Ashlyn Traylor-Walker.
Early on in the fourth quarter, Roseby pulled up for a three to set the new record for most three-pointers made in a single game and gave the 'Jacks a 78-40 lead. However, the Ladyjacks weren't done yet as Harmanie Dominguez hit two more threes which gave the 'Jacks 18 made three-pointers, 84-45. Freshman, Cha Gardner scored the final bucket of the game with just under two minutes left to play as SFA cruised to an 86-45 victory.
