
Lumberjacks End Regular Season at Home vs. Wildcats

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (6-5, 4-3) will end their 2024 regular season at home hosting the Abilene Christian Wildcats (8-3, 7-1). Kick-off is set for 2:00 P.M. CT. at Homer Bryce Stadium.
Series History
Saturday's game will be the 26th meeting between the Lumberjacks and Wildcats. SFA currently holds a 13-12 overall series lead over ACU with the Wildcats taking the most recent meeting on October 21st, 2023, by a final score of 34-27. The series dates to October 6th, 1973, a 57-50 ACU win.
Senior Day
The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks football team will celebrate senior day today in their final home game of the season. There are 21 seniors on the 2024 roster, and they will be recognized on the field before the game. The seniors include Jermaine Brown, Bruce Har-mon, Charles Demmings, Dylan Tooker, Lane Lewis, Dalton McElyea, Josiah Cotton, Jaheim Mullen, Trashawn Adams, Ty Love, Callum Ed-dings, Qualan Jones, Luke Watson, Connor Mullins, Chris Campos, Will Thompson V, Jake Henry, Chris Taylor, Griffin Edwards, Ky Thomas, and Victor Idusuyi. Stephen F. Austin State University and the football program thanks these players for all their hard work and dedication to the program and to SFA.
A Look at SFA
The Lumberjacks are coming off a tough loss to the UIW Cardinals last weekend. The SFA defense flexed their muscles the whole game collecting three interceptions and holding a potent Cardinals offense to just 27 points.
Gavin Rutherford made his second career start for the Lumberjacks going 21-for-35 and 209 yards passing with one passing touchdown. Gavin was also the Lumberjacks leading rusher with 17 carries for 47 yards. Kylon Harris led the receiving corps with six catches for 79 yards and one touchdown. Harris has caught at least one touchdown in all but four games this season for the 'Jacks.
Jermaine Brown led the defense with seven total tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss and one interception. Victor Idusuyi also had a monster game for the Lumberjacks with six total tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack. Trashawn Adams and Jaheim Mullen also recorded interceptions in the game.
A Look at ACU
The Wildcats are coming off a 35-31 win over the 14th-ranked Tarleton State Texans last weekend to capture the United Athletic Conference (UAC) Championship.
The Wildcats offense had an explosion through the air as their quarterback Maverick McIvor was 35-for-55 for 391 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Sam Hicks led the ground game with 22 carries for 135 yards and one touchdown. Blayne Taylor led the Wildcats receiving group with 10 catches for 168 yards.
Will Shaffer led the ACU defense with 12 total tackles and one tackle for loss. Kaghen Roach also had a good game for the defense with three total tackles and two tackles for loss.
