SAN MARCOS, Texas—The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks Basketball Team (4-0, 0-0) will travel to San Marcos on Friday night to face Texas State (2-2, 0-0).
Ladyjacks at a Glance:
The Ladyjacks came ready to play this season, starting with a 4-0 record for the first time since 2011-12. Early this week, SFA faced Wiley University at home, defeating the lady Wildcats 104-40. They scored 16 three-pointers, 26 assists, and 54 rebounds. Key Roseby scored 19 points and 12 rebounds, Harmaine Dominguez and Faith Blackstone had 18 points each, and both scored four three-pointers. It was a night full of highs for everyone.
Bobcats at a Glance:
The Bobcats are coming off a win against Sul Ross State University earlier this week, 99-65. They started the season off 2-2, with losses to Texas A&M Corpus Christi and TCU. Morgan Hill had her third career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jaylin Foster scored 16 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. This will be the Bobcat's third game at home for the season.
Scouting Report:
Avery VanSickle has been an asset for the Ladyjacks in four games, scoring 60 points this season and averaging .619 on three-pointers. Faith Blackstone is averaging 14.8 games per game. Cha Gardner, Key Roseby, and Trinity Moore are critical components of SFA's defense.
Jaylin Foster is the Bobcats' lead scorer and a great defender, with 50 points, shooting .500, and 30 rebounds over four games. The team has 170 rebounds, 33 three-pointers, and 19 blocks. Morgan Hill and Heather Baymon scored significant points for the Cats, scoring over 30 points each season.
Series:
The Ladyjacks head to San Marcos with a 10-4 series, with three losses coming from the road. The last matchup was in March 2023 in the WNIT first round, that SFA hosted and defeated Texas State 89-79.
