
Mercy Kipchumba Receives At-Large Bid For NCAA National Championship Cross-Country Meet

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin freshman Mercy Kipchumba has received an at-large invitation for the NCAA National Championship Cross-Country meet in Verona, Wisconsin. Mercy will compete in the 6k race starting at 9:20 A.M CT. The event will be broadcast on ESPNU. Hosting the meet is the University of Wisconsin.
Mercy is the fourth woman athlete in school history to qualify for the event and the first runner to qualify since Lauren Smith competed in 2012.
"This meet is the pinnacle of collegiate distance running, so to have earned this opportunity at this juncture of her collegiate career is a testament to Mercy and her work ethic.," said head coach Rob Hansen. "She has overcome a lot to be in this position now, and all I can say is that I am incredibly proud of her for continuing to battle."
