
Ladyjacks Score 24 in Fourth Quarter to Stay Undefeated

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball team (3-0, 0-0 SLC) hosted the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters (3-1, 0-0 CUSA) in a non-conference matchup Saturday night.
Faith Blackstone got the game started off with a bang as she nailed a three-pointer to give the 'Jacks an early 3-0 lead. Both teams traded baskets until the Lady Techsters made back-to-back layups to take a slim 6-5 lead. Blackstone and Harmanie Dominguez hit back-to-back jumpers to give the Ladyjacks a 9-6 lead with three minutes left in the first. Each team traded points and the first quarter ended with SFA holding a slim 11-9 lead.
Louisiana Tech started the second quarter on a 9-0 run which gave them an 18-11 lead with 7:39 left in the first half. SFA went on an 8-2 run to cut the lead down to one thanks to two three-pointers from Dominguez, 20-19. Two minutes later a layup from Cha Gardner tied the game up at 24 with 3:30 left in the quarter. The Lady Techsters went on a 6-0 run to give them a 30-24 lead with two minutes left in the half. Both teams traded baskets to finish up the first half as the 'Jacks went into the locker room down by five, 32-27.
The Lady Techsters kept slowly extending their lead as they grew it to eight before Dominguez cut their momentum with a layup, 41-35. Another three-pointer from Dominguez with 4:25 left in the third swung the momentum in SFA's favor as the 'Jacks finished the quarter on a 10-4 run to cut the lead down to one, 47-46.
The fourth quarter was dominated by the Ladyjacks as they went on a 14-point run to start to fourth and took a commanding 60-47 lead which electrified the home crowd in the Sawmill. Louisiana Tech cut the lead down to 10 before Blackstone hit another three to put the lead back up to 13, 63-50. A minute later, a Trinity Moore jumper would put the 'Jacks up by 15 points with 2:40 left in the game. The Lady Techsters tried to mount a comeback with a 6-2 spurt, but the lead was too much for them to handle as the Ladyjacks pulled away with a 70-56 win to remain undefeated this season.
