NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin men's cross-country runner Elkana Kipruto has been named the Southland Conference (SLC) men's cross-country runner of the week for the second time this season.
The Kenya native continues to shine for the Lumberjacks in his freshman campaign as he set another new school record of 22:29 in the 8k at the Arturo Barrios Invitational. Kipruto was the previous record holder setting the previous school record of 23:19 at the Chile Pepper Invitational just two weeks earlier.
Kipruto helped the men to a 10th-place team finish in the meet, after finishing in the thirties the past two years.
"Elly's performance at the Barrios meet was nothing short of amazing," said head coach Rob Hansen. "Elly is an athlete who will not be denied and he competes with his entire heart. This record-setting performance was nothing short of amazing and we're all just very proud of him."
