NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Head Coach Leonard Bishop announced the hiring of Anika Collins as Director of Basketball Operations, Friday afternoon.
"We are so excited to have Anika back in Nacogdoches, said Bishop. "She knows what winning looks like and brings an energy and passion for serving that undoubtedly will be an asset for us."
Collins returns to Nacogdoches after spending a year as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Arizona, where she spent time working closely with former SFA director of basketball operations, Kayla Scott. Working with Scott gave Collins the opportunity to learn what it's like to be a Director of Basketball Operations at the Power 5 level. She received a graduate certificate in Global Health and Development after attending the university for a year.
Prior to Arizona, she was hired as an Account Representative for Princeton University Conference and Event Services Department where she learned to enhance her event planning skills working at an Ivy league university. Collins is returning to Nacogdoches after graduating from SFA in 2021 with a Bachelor's in Sports Business. She became a student manager for the Ladyjacks in her sophomore year, and was promoted to head manager during her junior and senior years under Coach Kellogg and worked very closely with Scott.
Collins is very happy to be back, "I've deeply missed the SFA family and the culture. I couldn't be more thrilled to be back. The prospect of working with this group of players and staff makes me excited, and I'm grateful to be reunited with Coach Bishop. Axe Em!"
