‘Jacks Compete at Golfweek Challenge; Men Finish 11th and Women Finish 17th

NACODGOCHES, Texas- The Lumberjacks Men's and Women's golf teams competed this week at the Golfweek Fall Challenge in Pawley's Island, South Carolina.
The Men's team finished 11th overall in the tournament this weekend. This year's Men's team was 27 shots better overall this weekend than the last time they competed in this event as they shot -13 under par overall.
Trey Rouse made his debut for the Lumberjacks after transferring from Jefferson State Community College. Rouse shot -7 under par on the weekend and shot a 68 for his final round on Tuesday. Rouse finished tied for 15th overall for the men's side.
Eyan Edsall also had a good showing for the Lumberjacks this weekend as he finished -4 under on the weekend. Edsall finished tied for 30th overall on the men's side.
Three other Lumberjack golfers competed this weekend in the Golfweek Fall Challenge including Rick Frauenberger, Ryan Esparza, and Joe Paul Pennington. Frauenberger and Esparza finished +1 on the weekend both tied for 58th overall. Pennington finished his final round at +13 on the weekend finishing tied for 77th overall for the weekend.
The Women's team finished 17th overall in the tournament this weekend shooting a combined +72.
Senior Sloane Bennett led for the Ladyjacks shooting +13 over par on the weekend and finishing 56th overall for the women's side.
Four other Ladyjacks competed this weekend at the Golfweek Fall Challenge including Jessica Aguirre, Kinley Pessel, Sydni Leung, and Avree Fields. Jessica Aguirre was +19 on the weekend and tied for 74th overall. Kinley Pessel was +24 on the weekend and tied for 86th overall. Sydni Leung made her debut for the Ladyjacks this weekend after transferring from Arkansas State University and shot +25 and tied for 88th place overall. Avree fields finished +26 on the weekend and tied for 90th overall.
The men will be on the road again October 16-17th to Las Cruces, New Mexico to compete in the NMSU Herb Wimbley tournament.
The women will be traveling to Huntsville, Texas September 25-26th to compete in the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational.
