
SFA Track and Field Set to Host the WAC Outdoor Championships

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin will host the WAC Outdoor Championships May 11th- May 13th. The meet will kick off at 9:30 a.m. both mornings and will be all-day events.
The SFA Track and Field team last competed at the Texas Invitational, on April 28th. The women had three top five finishes. Nissi Kabongo led the team by finishing first, with a mark of 1.75m in the high jump. Montana Piper placed second, hitting a mark of 42.40m in the javelin. Jayla Hooper had a fifth-place finish, after throwing 50.09m in discus.
The men's team finished with five top five finishes. Germain Lemaitre placed first in the 800m, finishing with a time of 1:53.13. Lemaitre was accompanied by Blake Hyatt in the top five of the 800m. Hyatt finished fourth, with a time of 1:55.32. Branson Ellis continued his dominant season, placing second with a height of 5.55m. Nicholas Grullon hit a mark of 2.00m in the high jump, placing fifth. Devin Miles placed sixth and hit a new PR of 46.75 in the 400m. Kayson Elijah placed sixth in the hammer, throwing 54.54m. Elijah recently earned WAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Elijah currently sits atop the WAC, with his 58.12m throw. Riley Elliott competed in the Fresno State Invitational. Elliott placed first in the 1500m and broke the SFA school record, with his 3:45.13.
