SFA Alum, Willie Jefferson, Recipient of Prestigious Community Service Award for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Willie Jefferson, Stephen F. Austin graduate of 2012, was awarded the Ed Kotowich 'Good Guy Award', the most prestigious community service award for the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Ed Kotowich award winner goes out to the player being acknowledged for having 'excellent football ability, is a leader in the locker room and shows outstanding effort in the community.' Jefferson, who is a year-round resident of Winnipeg, makes numerous amounts of charitable appearances and events on behalf of the football club and has made himself a public figure within the Winnipeg community.
Jefferson joined the Blue Bombers in 2019 and has made a significant impact on the defensive line since his arrival. He was named the club's Most Outstanding Player in 2019 and the Blue Bombers' Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2019 and 2022. The CFL has also taken notice of Jefferson's performance as he is a four-time Canadian Football League All-Star, five-time West Division All-Star, and most notably, the league's Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2019.
In 2011, at SFA he was named the Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year in his Junior season. He led the Southland Conference in sacks with 16. Jefferson was selected to the Sports Network All-America second team, and Phil Steele's Magazine All-America third team.
