Brittingham Records her Fifth Double-Double as Ladyjacks Slash Wildcats

ABILENE, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Abilene Christian 66-53 Saturday afternoon. SFA improves to 18-4 (8-2 WAC) while ACU falls to 10-11 (4-6 WAC).
The first three minutes of the game the teams were trading buckets, until SFA went on a 8-0 scoring run to go up 12-5 with 6:22 left in the first. The Ladyjacks went into the first quarter break with a six-point lead, 19-13. ACU fought back in the second quarter and took the lead with 7:15 left in the first half. The teams traded blows for several minutes, until the Ladyjacks went on another 8-0 scoring spurt. SFA held an eight-point lead going into halftime, 33-25. The Ladyjacks were able to grow their lead to double-digits with 3:44 left in the third and hovered around that mark the rest of the quarter. Jordan Harrison ended the third quarter with a layup that put SFA up 13 points going into the fourth, 52-39. In the fourth, SFA hovered around a 15 point lead for most of the quarter and ended up beating the Wildcats by 13 points.
SFA led ACU is most statistic categories such as; points in the paint (42-26), second chance points (13-10), bench points (22-5), field goal percentage (49.0-35.8), and free throw percentage (68.2-61.1). Harrison led the way for the Ladyjacks with 19 points which is one point from tying her career-high, followed by Kurstyn Harden who recorded 11 points. Avery Brittingham recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Harden followed Brittingham with nine rebounds. Brittingham also led the team with five assists and tied with Kyla Deck for the lead with two steals.
The Ladyjacks will continue their Texas road trip at Tarleton on Monday, February 6th at 1:00 p.m.
