Avery Brittingham Records Her Sixth Double-Double as the Ladyjacks' Second Half Surge Past the Aggies

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated New Mexico State 62-47 on Senior Night. SFA improves to 24-5 (14-3 WAC) and NMSU falls to 14-15 (9-8 WAC).
The first quarter was a very slow start for both teams as the first points of the game were not scored until the 6:23 mark. The few baskets that were scored in that quarter favored the Aggies as they held a 9-4 lead. NMSU held the lead for the entire second quarter and hovered around a five-point lead. The Aggies went into the locker room with a three-point lead, 18-15. The Ladyjacks got their first lead of the game with 8:56 left in the first half and quickly extended their lead to double figures off back-to-back three-pointers from Angel Scott and Tyler McCliment-Call. SFA went into the fourth quarter with a nine-point lead, 38-29. In the fourth quarter, SFA held off NMSU's comeback attempts and continued to grow their lead in the final five minutes of the game.
SFA led NMSU in many stat categories including, points in the paint (36-22), points off turnovers (10-9), fast break points (13-6), bench points (17-12), field goal percentage (47.8-28.8), and three-point percentage (21.4-14.3). Avery Brittingham led the Ladyjacks in points (17) and rebounds (11) as she recorded her sixth double-double this season. Senior, Aiyana Johnson ended the night with 12 points and five rebounds in her final game at the Sawmill. Harrison led the team with four assists, two blocks and two steals (tied with Brittingham).
The Ladyjacks will head to Arlington to face the UTA Mavericks in their final regular season game on Thursday, March 2nd at 7 p.m.
