NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball team prepares for their final week of regular season play. Their last home game will be Tuesday, February 28th against New Mexico State University and their last game on the road coming at UT-Arlington on Thursday, March 2nd.
A Look at the Ladyjacks
SFA sits second in the WAC standings, one game behind Southern Utah. The Ladyjacks are one of two teams who still haven't lost more than ten games overall this year.
The Ladyjacks are seventh in the nation, first in the conference, in field goal percentage with 47.4%. Aiyana Johnson leads the conference, and is 36th in the nation, in field goal percentage with 54.9% (152-for-277). Johnson has turned up the pressure since the beginning of WAC play, as she has made 98 of 161 attempts, equaling out to 60.9%. Both Avery Brittingham and Destini Lombard also have 50+% field goal percentage on the year. Before being sidelined due to injury, Kurstyn Harden made 63.3% from the field in 21 games.
One key advantage the Ladyjacks have is the number of players able to make the shots beyond the arc. SFA has five players who have more than 70 shots from deep and have at least a 34% from the three-point line. Tyler McCliment-Call and Angel Scott leads the team with 42 shots from beyond the arc and Lombard is the most effective deep shooter with 37.5%.

A Look at the Mavericks
The Mavericks have had a very similar season to the Aggies, as they have a 14-15 overall record and a 8-9 WAC record. UTA has also had more strength when playing on their home court with a 8-5 home record, winning the last three at the College Park Center.
The Ladyjacks need to play defense with caution as the Mavericks are fourth in the nation in free-throw attempts per game (23.76) and sixth in the nation in free-throws made per game (16.34). If the Ladyjacks refrain from making too much contact with the Mavericks, they can hold them from scoring extra buckets from the charity line that could be the difference between a win and a loss.
Starr Jacobs continues to live up to her name and is the star of UTA women's basketball. Jacobs leads the Mavericks in the following statistics: field goal percentage (49.9%, 186-for-373), free-throws made (139) (21th in the nation), points per game (17.6), total rebounds (247), and steals (90) (sixth in the nation). Jacobs has scored 20 or more points in her last four games and hasn't scored less than ten points in nearly three months. She also has 11 double-doubles on this year alone. The Ladyjacks will need to contain Starr Jacobs in order to keep the game from getting out of hand.
By Jacobs' side is Kayla White and Jireh Washington. White averages 14.2 points per game and is the best on the team when it comes to beyond the arc with a 36.9% three-point percentage (31-for-84). Washington has a 44% field goal percentage, averages 12.5 points per game, and leads the team with 93 assists. White has scored double-digits in nine of the last ten games and Washington with double-digits in her last six games.
