Sears Named to 2023 Stats Perform FCS Freshman All-American Team

Nacogdoches, Texas- Aaron Sears received yet another postseason award as he was named to the 2023 Stats Perform FCS Freshman All-American Team, Presented by FedEx Ground.
Sears continues to rack up postseason awards for his outstanding 2023 season on defense for the Lumberjacks. The redshirt freshman from Tyler, Texas had a breakout year for the 'Jacks defense as he totaled 55 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and three pass breakups.
Sears was a cornerstone for the Lumberjacks defense and helped keep the 'Jacks close in two tight games, one vs. The University of Central Arkansas (UCA) and the second coming against Austin Peay. He had a career-high 15-tackle performance against UCA, and was named United Athletics Conference (UAC) Freshman of the Week. He also received United Athletic Conference (UAC) Freshman of the Week honors on 9/25/23 VS. Austin Peay for his 11-tackle performance. Earlier this season,
Sears was named to the Jerry Rice Award watchlist which honors the best freshman in FCS.
