
SFA Travels to Cayman Islands for Cayman Island Classic

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands- The Lumberjacks travel to John Gray Gymnasium to take part in the Cayman Islands Classic. The 'Jacks will open the tournament with their contest against the Loyola Marymount Lions on November 11th at 12:30 p.m. The tournament will be broadcasted on FloSports.
SFA will also have possible matchups against Oakland and Drake.
A Look at SFA:
The Lumberjacks are coming off a season high performance, with their nine three pointers made in the 96-70 win over Northwestern State. Matt Hayman led the way for SFA's three-point shooting as he shot 3/3 from behind the arc. The Lumberjacks are currently ranked 18th in the country for field goal percentage. SFA is currently averaging 54.4% shooting from the field. The 'Jacks are also outscoring opponents by an average margin of 16.3 points. SFA's defense is holding opposing offenses to a 35.2% shooting average from the field.
A Look at Loyola Marymount:
SFA will be facing off against Loyola Marymount for the first time in history. The 'Jacks and the lions both enter this game 2-1 to start the season. Stephen F. Austin leads LMU in almost every statistical category. Kampe has spent the most seasons with one school out of any other Division I basketball coach and is one of three active coaches with 600 wins. Oakland comes to the Cayman Island Classic with a 1-2 record that includes respectable losses against Ohio State and Illinois.

If SFA gets matched up against the Bulldogs, it will be the second time that both teams have faced off. The Lumberjacks got the upper hand in their first meeting (12/13/08) as they won 66-64 on Drake's homecourt. The Bulldogs are averaging 86.0 points per game on 52.6% shooting from the field. Drake is led by Tucker DeVries who leads the Bulldogs in points (28.5), rebounds (6.5), assists (5.0) and steals (2.0).
