'Jacks Faceoff Against Rival Demons

NAGOGDOCHES, TX- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (1-1) travel to Prather Coliseum tomorrow night to face longtime rival Northwestern State (1-1) in a non-conference game. Tipoff is set for 6:30 pm.
SFA currently leads the series 40-35. The most recent matchup was last season on December 1st when the Demons won 102-96. Stephen F. Austin holds a 21-13 record at home against Northwestern State with a 19-22 record on the road.
A Look at SFA:
The 'Jacks are coming off a hard-fought contest against Middle Tennessee where they lost 67-62. SFA was outscored 13-8 in overtime and lost their first game of the season 67-62. Latrell Jossell was the leading scorer for the Lumberjacks. He scored 16 points on 5-for-8 shooting, was 4-5 from behind the arc, and led the team with four assists. Sadaidriene Hall was second in scoring for SFA. Hall posted 15 points on 6-for-9 shooting. The Lumberjack defense had nine steals and forced the Blue Raiders into 18 turnovers. Kimahri Wilson leads SFA in steals with seven. SFA is the better offensive team as the 'Jacks have better field goal (50.4%) and three-point shooting (34.3%) percentages.
A Look at Northwestern State:
This is Head Coach Rick Cabrera's first season at the helm for the Demons. Cabrera, along with 14 newcomers on the Northwestern State men's basketball roster, will have their first chance to taste the rivalry Monday night at 6:30 pm when the Demons host the Lumberjacks. SFA will look to their "PressU" defense to respond to the high number of turnovers forced by the Demons. Both teams are in the top 40 nationally in turnovers forced per game. The Lumberjacks force 22.5 per contest – eighth nationally -- while the Demons have hassled their opponents into an average of 18 turnovers per game, ranking 40th among Division I teams
The Lumberjacks will travel to the Cayman Islands for the Cayman Island Classic, on November 19th. SFA will open up against Loyola Marymount University and will play two more games in the tournament before traveling back to Nacogdoches.
