Ava Shannon Named to WAC All-Freshman Team

ARLINGTON, Texas- Freshman midfielder Ava Shannon earned a spot on the WAC All-Freshman Team, the league announced Friday afternoon.
Shannon was the only Lumberjack to start all 18 matches in the 2023 season. She led the team with three assists which all led to goals by Jayme Bailey. Shannon also recorded her first collegiate goal on the road against CBU after converting a penalty kick that was drawn by Lily Hargrove. She played 1,279 minutes, which landed her third on the team. Shannon made the most of every time she was on the pitch as she used her speed to go through defenders and get to ball into the attacking zone. Top Drawer ranked Shannon as a four-star recruit, the 110th best player in the 2023 class nationwide, the 16th best player in Texas, and the 41st best midfielder in the country. She played ECNL, GA, and DA leagues and her team reached Final Four in GA Champions League and was a GA National Talent ID Selection before joining SFA.
