
Track and Field Secure Multiple Personal Bests at Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas- Stephen F. Austin's track and field team traveled to Lubbock, Texas to take part in the Texas Tech Open and Multis Meet. Erica Ellis and Branson Ellis headlined the Lumberjack pole vault unit, as they traveled to the New Mexico Team Challenge.
Branson Ellis currently holds the fourth best jump in the nation. He also secured another first place victory in New Mexico. Ellis was able to continue his dominant season and secure the overall win, with a 18.70m jump.
Joseph Harding ran an impressive 6.76 and 6.68 in the 60m preliminary and semifinal rounds. Harding (21.37), Devin Miles (21.52), and Gerard Holmes (21.94), all ran lifetime indoor bests for the 200m. Devin Miles also placed 15th in the 400m, with a new personal best of 48.41.
The Lumberjacks secured another top 10 finish. With Germain Lemaitre's phenomenal 600m performance. Lemaitre's 1:19.85 is the second fastest 600m ever ran at SFA.
Cade Willis led the way for SFA, in the men's shot put. Willis was able to secure fifth, with a throw of 16.37m. Cameron Steward was the second best performance for the Jacks, placing nineth in the shot put. Steward threw a 15.65m.
For the women, Courtney Young had a very strong individual showing. Young was able to post personal bests, in both the 200m (24.96) and 400m (56.37).
Head Coach Robert Hansen was impressed by Senior Nissi Kabongo's season debut. Kabongo was able to place fourth in the women's high jump, clearing 1.81m. Ayi-Lissa Dotson was able to tie her own personal best on the high jump, clearing 1.70m.
Sophomore Michelle Ogbemudia headlined the women's weight throw. Ogbemudia placed third, with a throw of 18.70m. That performance resulted in another personal best for the group of Lumberjacks.
The Lumberjacks will travel back to the University of New Mexico for the New Mexico Classic on February 3rd and 4th.
