Volleyball Defeats Texans on the Road

STEPHENVILLE, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Tarleton State, 3-1. SFA improves to 14-2 (2-1 WAC), while TSU falls to 8-9 (0-3 WAC).
The Ladyjacks lost the first set in extras (26-24), but came back in dominating fashion as they did not allow the Texans to score more 17 points in a set the rest of the match. The score of the second set was 25-16, the third set was 25-17, and the fourth set was 25-15. SFA lead in points (70-55), kills (51-45), aces (8-6), blocks (11-4), and assists (47-44). The Ladyjacks had several three and four point scoring runs that helped carry them to victory.
Senior Ariana Pagan was the only Ladyjack with double-digit kills with 10 and was one dig away from recording her sixth double-double of the season. Pagan also had three blocks and three aces, with her final ace of the game counting as her 100th career ace. Camryn Hill recorded nine kills and Izabella Ortiz recorded eight. Jayden Flynn had 21 assists while Maddy Bourque recorded 19. Izzy Denton led the defensive effort for SFA recording a career high 15 digs. Kelsey Harrington recorded a season high seven total blocks.
The Ladyjacks will finish up their two-game road trip at Abilene Christian on Saturday, October 1st at 1 p.m. Our very own Greg Miller will be doing play-by-play on the ESPN+ broadcast.
