NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin head football coach Colby Carthel is excited to announce the addition of Malik Williams to the Lumberjack football program.
"Fired up to have Malik join our program!" Carthel said. "He comes from a great program and brings tremendous length, speed, and athleticism to the position. He will have a chance to be an impactful player early on in his career at SFA."
Williams played a key role in Buford winning the Class 6A state championship his senior season. As a junior, Williams helped Buford win the 2019 Class 5A state title before the Wolves moved up a class. Williams also competes in track and field for the Wolves. He set the school record in the long jump (23-2) after breaking the long-standing school record held by Tim Wansley, a former Georgia standout who went on to play in the NFL.
Williams had more than a dozen scholarship offers from Power Five schools and projects as a defensive back. Williams signed with Nebraska out of high school.
