DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Stephen F. Austin men's basketball team earned the No. 4 seed in 2022 College Basketball Invitational and will match-up with No. 13 seed UNC Asheville. The two programs will match-up on Saturday, March 19 at 2:30 p.m. (ET) / 1:30 p.m. (CT). The broadcast will be available on FloHoops.
Lumberjacks Claim WAC Regular Season Championship
SFA finished the regular season on a 10-game winning streak and won a share of the WAC Regular Season Championship.
Trio Named to All-WAC Team
Jaylin Jackson-Posey is the WAC Sixth Man of the Year, Gavin Kensmil earned First-Team All-WAC honors and David Kachelries was voted Second-Team All-WAC.
Jackson-Posey averaged 8.8 points per game off the bench to help the Lumberjacks earn a share of the WAC regular season title. Jackson-Posey's most notable feat was converting a pair of free throws with less than two seconds remaining to lead the Jacks past Sam Houston.
Kensmil averaged a team-high 16.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. The Paramaribo, Suriname native shot 59 percent (169-for-282) from the field and scored 454 points and hauled in 190 rebounds, both of which are team-highs. Kensmil posted four double-doubles and recorded 25 steals.
Kachelries averaged 10 points per game and handed out a team-high 104 assists. The Emmaus, Pennsylvania native shot 42 percent (105-for-246) from the floor and scored 279 points.
