Hylton and Ellis Earn All-American Honors at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Stephen F. Austin indoor track and field team competed at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Asani Hylton broke his own school record with 5851 points and finished 8th in country and in the process was named 1st Team All-American.
The Heptathlon is a track and field contest composed of seven events (60 meters, long jump, shot put, high jump, 60-meter high hurdles, pole vault, and 1000 meters).
Hylton won the high jump with a leap of 2.18 meters and earned 3346 points. Hylton finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.15 and fifth in the 1000 meters with a mark of 2:40.30.
The Westmoreland, Jamaica native placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 7.15 meters, 11th in the pole vault with a vault of 4.26 meters, and 14th in the 60 meters with a time of 7.13.
Branson Ellis placed fifth in the pole vault and cleared 5.60 meters and earned 1st Team All-American honors.
