Baylor Clips SFA in Home Opener

NACHGDOCHES, Texas – Baylor defeated Stephen F. Austin 7-3 in home opener from the SFA Softball Field.
SFA jumped out to an early 2-0 lead behind a triple to right center by junior Shay Govan that drove in freshman Hope Lusk who reached on an error to begin the game.
After two scoreless innings by both teams, Baylor's bats began to heat up scoring a pair of runs in the fourth inning, and three runs in fifth inning as they took the lead 5-2.
After a scoreless sixth inning, the Bears added two runs in the top of the final inning extending their lead to 7-2. The Ladyjacks would not go down without a fight as Junior Camryn Middlebrook doubled to right center followed by a single from junior Sydnee Hebert. Sophomore Emily Land was able to bring in Middlebrook from third with a single, but that would conclude SFA's comeback effort as two runners were left on base to finish out the game.
SFA is headed out west this weekend for the Texas A&M tournament. The Ladyjacks will be back at home next Tuesday vs. Louisiana Tech.
