Ladyjacks Defeat Boston College and Finish the Puerto Rico Clasico Undefeated

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico- Stephen F. Austin defeated Boston College, 67-53 Saturday afternoon in the finale of the Puerto Rico Clasico Tournament. SFA improves to 5-1 while BC falls to 5-3.
The first quarter was a battle as neither team held a double-digit lead. SFA went into the quarter break with a six point lead, 18-12. BC made a run in the middle of the second quarter and brought the lead down to three, but then SFA scored the final four points of the quarter to go into halftime with a 28-21 lead. BC scored the first six points of the third quarter to make it a one point game and took the lead for a couple of minutes. The Eagles continued to fight back and kept it a two point game heading into the fourth quarter, 44-42. BC took the lead back early in the second quarter, but then SFA took the lead with eight minutes left in the game and never looked back as they won by 14 points.
SFA led BC in points in the paint (36-28), points off turnovers (15-11), bench points (19-13), field goal percentage (52.1-34.5), three-point percentage (30.8-28.6), and free throw percentage (68.4-50.0). Aiyana Johnson led the Ladyjacks with 18 points, followed by Angel Scott who recorded 14. Johnson also led the team with eight rebounds, followed by Kurstyn Harden who had seven. Jordan Harrison had five assists, while Johnson recorded four. Harrison also recorded two steals which landed her behind Avery Brittingham who recorded three.
The Ladyjacks will be back at home on Thursday, December 1st for a huge matchup against the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
