NACOGDOCHES, Texas – No. 23-ranked Gonzaga defeated Stephen F. Austin 71-59 Thursday evening in non-conference action.

Gonzaga improved to 7-1 overall and SFA fell to 5-2 on the season.

Freshman Kyla Deck came off the bench and dropped a career-high 22 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field. Deck also went 4-for-5 from beyond the arc, recorded three steals and did not commit a turnover.

The 5-foot-9 guard also set career highs with eight made field goals, 11-field goal attempts, and four made three-pointers.

Aiyana Johnson scored 13 points and was an efficient 7-for-8 at the free-throw line.

The Ladyjacks found success in front of the basket with 28 points and used its deep bench to score 37 points. GU only scored two points off the bench.

SFA forced 17 turnovers, which was turned into 18 points.

The Purple and White return to the hardwood on Sunday and host Texas A&M Texarkana at 2 p.m.
