
Volleyball Adds Seven To 2023 Signing Class

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program announced seven signees this afternoon in Kyanna Creecy, Tanishua Joseph, Emma Luce, Caroline Kahle, Sydney Johnson, Cambry Saul, and Brooke Davis.
Head Coach Debbie Humphreys said, "We are extremely excited about the 2023 recruiting class. Our program has experienced tremendous success over the years & we are continuing to take steps forward in the WAC. This class, along with our returning players will allow us to do just that.
The 2023 class brings a combination of talent, athleticism, competitiveness and love of the game. We are looking forward to helping them take their game to another level and seeing what this program can accomplish during their time at SFA."
Kyanna Creecy: 5-11 MB
Kyanna attends McKinney High School and is a middle blocker. She was named to the Academic All-District team as well as the First Team for All-District. Kyanna has accumulated 502 kills and a .207 overall hitting percentage. She also has 252 total blocks including 82 solo.
"Ky is an amazing athlete who jumps well & is extremely quick," said Humphreys. "She is also driven to improve her overall VB skills. She is the style of player & competitor that will have a great career at SFA."
Tanishua Joseph: 6-0 MB
Tanishua comes to SFA from Sterling High School in Baytown and plays as a middle blocker. Academically, Tanishua is in National Honor Society, Student of the Week, earned an All-A's medal, earned USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, and is a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was also named to the Academic All-District Team, and the All-Academic Team. On the court, Tanishua was named First Team All-District, Offensive Player of the Year, Team MVP, Female Athlete of the Year, Baytown Sun Select Volleyball Player of the Year, and 2021 and 2022 AVCA All-American Watch List and Phenom List.
Coach Humphreys said, "Ty is a very versatile front row player. She has the ability to play just about any anywhere in the front row. We expect Ty to make great strides as she is challenged at a high level every day."
Emma Luce: 5-11 OH
Emma is currently an outside hitter for Meeker High School in Meeker, Colorado. Emma has earned several awards including All-Conference, Western Slope Player of the Year, CHSAA All-State First Team, Max Preps AVCA Player of the Week, and Hugh Academic Honors. As a four-year varsity player, Emma has accumulated 1,690 kills, and a .306 hitting percentage. She also has 98 blocks with 86 of them being solo blocks, and 1,198 digs.
"Emma is a gritty 6 rotation OH, who has the ability to score at a high rate," said Humphreys "As she gets more comfortable using the block & mixing up her shots, she is going to be a hitter that our opponents must game plan against."
Caroline Kahle: 5-10 OH
Caroline currently attends Birdville High School and plays as an outside hitter. Academically, Caroline is ranked 12th in her class of 471, and is on the Academic All-District team. On the court, she has won awards like All-Area Utility MVP, District Utility Player of the Year, and was names to the First Team All-District and multiple All-Tournament Teams. Caroline also is the current record holder of career aces and serve receptions at Birdville High School.
Coach Humphreys said, "Caroline brings an all-around game and a fun personality. Her ball control skills will give us the ability to use her in a variety of ways."
Sydney Johnson: 6-1 MB/RS
Sydney comes to SFA from Forney High School where she plays as a middle blocker/right side. She was named the MVP of Tyler Tournament, and First Team All-District. Sydney has accumulated 326 kills and a .320 hitting percentage. She also has recorded 150 total blocks with 39 of them being solo.
"Sydney is a long athlete with a tremendous blocking presence," said Humphreys "She has the capability of playing either MB or Rt. She loves to compete and will help the competitive level of our gym."
Brooke Davis: 6-0 RS
Brooke attends Lake Travis High School and plays as right side. She was named to the Academic All-District team. Brooke has accumulated 312 kills, and a .234 hitting percentage. She also has recorded 103 total blocks with 97 of them being solo.
Coach Humphreys said, "Brooke is another versatile athlete who can play on either pin. She is a very good blocker with the ability to score. What Brooke provides goes well beyond the court. She gets what it means to be a good teammate & she has natural leadership qualities."
Cambry Saul: 5-5 S
Cambry is from Woodway, Texas and currently attends Midway High School where she plays as a setter. She was named the 2020 Newcomer of the Year, and was named Second Team All-District in 2021, and First Team All-District in 2022. Off the court, Cambry was named to the Academic All-District team in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
"We are excited to have Cambry join our program. She adds high quality depth at the setting position. Cambry loves to compete & will thrive in the environment that we have in our gym," said Humphreys.
