
Johnson Drops 20 in Ladyjacks' Loss to Rice

HOUSTON, Texas - Rice University defeated Stephen F. Austin 89-77 Thursday night. Rice improves to 2-0 while SFA falls to 1-1.
The 'Jacks kept the game close within the first two quarters, which included the Ladyjacks holding the lead for nearly 3 minutes in the first quarter of the match. They went into halftime down by only a manageable six points, 41-35.
The third quarter seemed to show good signs of what's to come for the Ladyjacks, as they outscored the Owls in the respective quarter and cut their deficit down to two, 60-58.
However, the fourth quarter favored the Owls as they scored 29 in the quarter to the 'Jacks 10 and pulled away with the win as the clock winded down.
Aiyana Johnson led the team with 20 points and seven rebounds, 12 of those points coming from the free throw line. Jordan Harrison dropped 15 points and led the team with six assists. Avery Brittingham and Kurstyn Harden also put up double digit points on the night, recording 15 and 10 points respectively.
SFA led in field goal percentage (49.1-47.5), free throw percentage (80.8-71.4), fast break points (12-7), and points in the paint (48-24).
The Ladyjacks look to go back in the win column at home this Sunday, November 13th against Texas Southern University with tip-off scheduled at 2 p.m.
