Volleyball Defeat Lopes in Dig Pink Game

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Grand Canyon, 3-1 Thursday night in the Dig Pink game. SFA improves to 16-2 (4-1 WAC) while GCU falls to 8-7 (2-2 WAC).
SFA won the first two sets (25-14, 25-22), dropped the third set (16-25), and then won the fourth set in extras (29-27). In the fourth set, SFA overcame a six-point run from GCU and had a four-point run of their own to bring the score to 22-21. After that the game was back and forth which forced the game into extras where SFA won the last two points to secure the match win. The Ladyjacks led in points (72-58), kills (58-44), blocks (9-8), assists (50-42), digs (67-65), and hitting percentage (.277-.181).
Ariana Pagan led the offensive effort with 15 kills and recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 11 digs. Ielan Bradley recorded 14 kills including her 200th kill of the season. Maddy Bourque had 23 assists and Jayden Flynn had 19. Kelsey Harrington led SFA with five total blocks, followed by Bradley and Izabella Ortiz who each had four blocks. Haley Hoang led the team with 22 digs, followed by Camryn Hill who recorded 15 digs.
The Ladyjacks will play at home again on Saturday, October 8th at 12 p.m. for a matchup with the Lancers of California Baptist.
