NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin will host the Western Athletic Conference Tournament, tomorrow in Nacogdoches, Texas.
SFA's cross country team will look for a strong cap to their regular season. The Lumberjacks will be in familiar territory, as they ran this same course in the Lumberjack Invitational. Stephen F. Austin is coming off a tough race at the Arturo Barrios Invitational. This race featured many high-profile institutions and was a great way for Head Coach Robert Hansen to see what shape his team was in going into the WAC Tournament.
Coach Hansen said, "we're thrilled to host all of these great institutions right here in Nacogdoches. Our squads have been preparing very well and I'm confident we're prepared to execute at a high level."
The team will rely on the experience and leadership of upperclassmen Lewis Mills, Riley Elliot, Rachel Taylor, and Hadley Watts as they look to continue a season of strong running. Coach Hansen said, "I have a high expectation of our upperclassmen leaders to pace the way for our youngsters".
The men will look to Lewis Mills and Riley Elliot to finish strong. "Lewis Mills and Riley Elliot have been training at an extraordinary level, so I'm excited to see what they've got to offer", said Coach Hansen.
Rachel Taylor and Hadley Watts will look to lead the women to the finish line. When asked about the women, Coach Hansen said, "the women are a little beat up, but I know that Rachel and Hadley's veteran presence can prevail for our group to have big successes."
The WAC Tournament will kickoff tomorrow at 8 a.m. right here in Nacogdoches, Texas.
