Ladyjacks Earn 2-0 Win Over UTRGV on Senior Day

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated University of Texas Rio Grande Valley 2-0 Sunday afternoon. SFA improves to 5-10-1 (4-5 WAC) while UTRGV falls to 2-11-3 (0-6-3 WAC).
SFA honored six seniors before the game started; Koral Hughes, Destiny Ramirez, Carly Wyatt, Colleen Feagins, Sophie Smith, and Mattie Musser.
The first half was neck and neck as the teams tried to navigate the 15 to 20 mile per hour winds in Nacogdoches. The Ladyjacks broke through first in the 44th minute when Ramirez crossed the ball toward the back post of the goal where Jamie Jezierski was able to kick it over the UTRGV goalie and into the top right corner of the net, to put SFA up 1-0 at halftime. In the 49th minute, Musser passed the ball to Ella Morgan who was outside the right side of the penalty box. Morgan then crossed the ball into the box where Lily Hargrove was able to get her head on it and put it in the back of the net to double SFA's lead, 2-0.
SFA led UTRGV in shots (18-4), shots on goal (8-1), and corner kicks (9-3). Hargrove recorded her third goal on the season, while Jezierski scored her first of the season. Ramirez and Morgan each recorded their second assists of the season. Hargrove led the team with three shots on goal, while Paige Kanipes, Musser, Jezerski, Mariona Garcia, and Carly Wyatt each recorded one shot on goal. Goalkeeper Lydia Sattler recorded her second shutout of the team and made one save in this game.
